Abstract

his study aimed to investigate the effect of visual perceptual speed training on selected physical abilities among junior taekwondo athletes. The researcher adopted the experimental approach using a two-group design (experimental and control) with pre- and post-measurements. The study sample consisted of 30 junior female athletes registered with the Egyptian Taekwondo Federation. The participants were randomly assigned into two equal groups: 15 athletes in the experimental group and 15 in the control group.

The researcher employed a set of standardized tests to assess selected components of physical fitness, namely: vertical muscular power, horizontal muscular power, agility, flexibility, and balance. The training program applied to the experimental group included a variety of exercises targeting key domains of visual perceptual speed, including visual tracking, static and dynamic visual accuracy, depth perception, eye-foot coordination, and perceptual speed.

The results indicated a statistically significant improvement in the post-test measurements of the experimental group across all physical variables, confirming the effectiveness of the training program in enhancing the physical performance of the junior athletes.

One of the main recommendations of the study is to incorporate visual perceptual speed training into taekwondo training programs.
