Abstract

A mental training program using hypnosis and its effect on the level of swimming competition performance for a modern pentathlon athlete in Guatemala (case study)
The study aims to:
1. Establish a mental training program based on visualization using hypnosis to improve the performance level of 200m freestyle swimming in swimming competition (time - points) within the sport of modern pentathlon.
2. recognizing the impact of the program on the athletes performance level in the swimming competitions of modern pentathlon, in the competitions, which he will participate in order to qualify for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
Study methodology:
The researcher used the experimental method by using the experimental design of two groups, one experimental and the other is control, from the athletes of the Guatemalan national team for the modern pentathlon and registered in the Guatemala Federation for the modern pentathlon for the year (2015/2016).
Conclusions :
The player achieved the goal that was set in advance before the application of the program, which is 02: 03.00 s, where he scored 02: 02.59 s, and the performance was constant around the specified time, a difference of fractions of a second.
Recommendations:
the researcher recommends the following:
paying attention needed to use of mental training strategies beside physical training to reach the best possible performance for the athletes inside training , before, during and after the competition, as one of the most important factors affecting the achievement of the objectives of the training process efficiently.
