Abstract

While training the Helwan University athletics team, the researcher has observed a drop in personal records for the athletes. this drop is due to the drop in physical fitness levels and the lack of using modern technological instruments to optimize the rest periods and recovery during trainings. Which in turn lead to a drop in the speed curve at the final stages of the competition. From this point, the researcher has introduced the use of one of the modern assisting tools which is the smart watches to optimize the rest and recovery periods which calculate the number of steps At every stage of the race and allocate the stage of the race where weak points exist in order to work on their optimization through which the physical fitness and personal record levels can be improved for the 800meters running competition.A specimen has been chosen based on cluster sampling method from the university team athletes. The group consisted of 30 athletes and the were divided into a survey sample including 10, and main research group of 20 athletes and. research groups for a duration of 8 weeks divided into for the research group, same time a conventional training program was applied to the control group with the same timing. The results allowed the researcher to concluded the following findings: the proposed training program with the use of smart watches has a positive contribution to the improvement of the elements of physical fitness for the 800 meters race.
