Abstract

The research aims to identify the effect of using different strategies for apical tapering in short distance runners, through identifying
• Special physical gains (maximum speed - muscular ability) in short distance runners.
• Special physiological gain (oxygen consumption limit - lactic acid - resting pulse) in short distance runners
- The experimental method was used by designing three experimental groups using pre and post measurement for each group.
The research community includes short-distance players under 20 years. 15 players were divided into three experimental groups each group has (5) Runners
The first group: to apply the linear tapering strategy (Army Club)
The second group: to apply the constant tapering strategy (Shams Club).
The third group: to apply the gradual tapering strategy to it. (Al-Ahly Club)
And (2) players from the same research community were selected from the Island Youth Center for the purpose of conducting an exploratory study on them.
The researcher reached the following conclusions:
- The use of a linear tapering strategy for runners led to a slight improvement in some training gains (physical - physiological).
- The use of the constant tapering strategy for runners led to a slight improvement in some training gains (physical - physiological).
- The use of the gradual tapering strategy has achieved rates of improvement and no loss of training gains and adaptations, and it is considered the best strategy over the linear and constant tapering strategy.
