The effect of a psychological counseling program in terms of emotional intelligence on reducing anxiety among karate referees

Abstract

Arbitration is one of the main pillars in sports competitions, there is no perfect competition without a judge who manages it and applies international laws for the game, so it requires preparing and developing the level of referees ’performance and their psychological and mental abilities to leave a positive impact on the players, coaches, administrators and the public, and thus the level of the game rises, and the level of the game does not rise. Except through raising the level of arbitration, which must be inherent in the development of the game, especially in stressful competitive situations, and competition is linked to many emotional situations that differ in intensity and strength, this will not come until the referee is able to make his decisions correctly and quickly in keeping with the occurrence of the error and with full transparency. He ignored any psychological pressures he was exposed to during the competition. (4: 179)
Good referees speed up the flow of the sporting event, taking into account that the outcome of the match depends on the tactics and skills of the players while ensuring that the match is played and runs smoothly in accordance with the rules and regulations and intervenes as little as possible. It evaluates various measures such as performance quality, fair play, and strict compliance with the rules bringing the discipline into line with a predetermined competition scenario. (47)
