The effect of mental capacity level on match results for basketball players under 17 years old

Abstract

The study aims to identify the effect of the level of mental abilities on the results of the games for basketball players under 17 years of age, and the descriptive approach was used in the survey method, and the size of the study sample reached (227) basketball players in the age group under 17 years old, and the members of the basic sample were selected by the method Al-Amadiyah, where the sample size was (202) players and participants in the basketball tournament for the Sunni under 17 years old in the State of Kuwait,
In light of the results obtained from the statistical analysis of the study sample responses on the mental capacity scale, the researcher reached the following conclusions:
(1) The highest level of mental abilities of the study sample was in the level of mental preparation ability, and it was of an average degree for the study sample.
(2) The lowest level of mental abilities for the study sample was in the level of ability to deal with anxiety, and it was weak for the study sample.
(3) The front-team players outperformed in the level of mental abilities (the ability to visualize - mental preparation - self-confidence - dealing with anxiety - the ability to focus) over the rear team players.
(4) The effect of the level of mental abilities on winning matches for basketball players under 17 years old has been demonstrated.
