The Effectiveness of Using Some Artistic Swimming Sculling on Crawl Stroke Performance

Abstract

Sculling is the most essential part of artistic swimming, being a basic movement of propulsive force, and the sculling exercises with hands in the help beginners and swimmers to get "feel of water" during the performance of palm movements and forearms inside the water, which reduces resistance for getting the best progress with a focus on improving performance and speed.
The aims of the research is to study the effectiveness of using some artistic swimming sculling on crawl stroke performance. The researchers used two groups (experimental and controlled), from female students in the second year - the Faculty of Physical Education for Girls – Helwan University, as (50) students were divided into two equal groups, one experimental and the other controlled consisting of (20) female students, in addition to (10) students for the pilot study.
The most important results were the statistically significant differences between the controlled and experimental groups and in the crawl stroke swimming performance in favor of the experimental group.
