Abstract

The effect of competitive training on the cognitive achievement of the third year students of the Faculty of Physical Education, Helwan University for the handball course. 2021/2022, and their number reached (441) female students. The missing students, players, injured and absent students, were excluded from (44) female students, bringing the actual number of third year students to (397) students representing the research community. The results of the research revealed that the calculated value of (T) was statistically significant at the level of significance α 0.05 between the average scores of the dimensional measurements for the experimental / control group on the cognitive test "under research", and in favor of the dimensional measurements of the experimental group, ,The researcher refers this result to the effectiveness of competitive exercises used in improving the cognitive aspect of the students of the research sample in terms of the cognitive aspect of skills (methods of optimal performance, when are they used?, educational points for the skill) and from the cognitive aspect of the laws of the game, as they perform the skills in a miniature form of Matches using competitive exercises that are similar to playing situations in matches by practically applying the rules of play. In addition to making some legal mistakes while performing the skill, as the competitive exercises allow them to learn from their mistakes through trial and error, as they are exposed to different situations
