The Effectiveness of “Shuttle Time” Program in Improving the Performance Level of Certain Skills of Badminton Coaches in the Kingdom of Bahrain

Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the effectiveness of the Shuttle Time program in improving the performance level of certain skills of badminton coaches in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and to assess the comprehensiveness of the program and its achievement of the intended objectives from the perspective of the sample participants. Additionally, it aimed to determine the significance of gender differences in opinions regarding the role of the program in developing coaches' cognitive and technical skills.

The study was conducted on a random sample of 60 badminton coaches who participated in the program (21 males and 39 females). It relied on a questionnaire prepared after consulting the program guide provided by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). The final version of the questionnaire included initial data describing the study sample, as well as their opinions on 23 items measuring the elements of the game.

Results indicated high levels of cognitive and technical skills, highlighting the Shuttle Time program's importance in skill development from the participants' perspectives. The program was deemed comprehensive with a relative weight of 91.1% and achieved its objectives with a relative weight of 94.4%. Additionally, there were statistically significant differences at significance level of 0.05 between gender, with females perceiving the program as more effective in developing cognitive and technical skills compared to males.

The study concluded with recommendations to promote badminton and the Shuttle Time program in Bahrain.
