The Effect of Endurance Training and a Protein-Rich, Antioxidant Supplement on Some Biological Variables For young swimmers

As competition in sports increases, athletes aim to enhance their performance through advanced training and nutrition strategies. Nutrition and training are vital for improving athletic performance and overall health. Swimmers, particularly junior competitors in the 200-meter individual medley, require more effective training and nutrition strategies to meet ongoing challenges and achieve new records.

This study investigates the impact of endurance training combined with a protein-rich, antioxidant supplement on some biological variables of 200-meter individual medley swimmers. The researchers utilized an experimental approach with three groups: two experimental groups and one control group, employing pre-and post-testing methods. The sample consisted of 24 swimmers, randomly divided into three groups (one group received endurance training with protein supplements, another group engaged in endurance training only, while the control group followed their usual training without these interventions), with eight swimmers in each group.

The endurance training program was conducted, and participants consumed a protein and antioxidant-rich drink post-training for eight weeks. Results showed a positive effect of endurance training and the supplement on enhancing swimmers' physical and physiological variables. The combination of training and supplementation improved performance efficiency and certain functional variables. Consequently, the researchers recommend implementing the endurance training program alongside nutritional supplements, emphasizing the need for integrated nutrition and nutrition specialists to support swimmers effectively.
