Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to examine the impact of a cognitive-behavioral program on self-awareness among female students in the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Helwan University. The experimental approach was selected due to its suitability for the research nature, employing a pre-and-post measurement design for a single experimental group.

The population of the study consists of fourth-year students in the Sports Training division of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Helwan University, during the 2023/2024 academic year. This population comprises 804 students aged around 21 years. The researcher applied a self-awareness scale to the students and selected those with low scores.

A pilot sample of 120 students was used to ensure the reliability and validity of the instruments. The main research sample included 50 students, selected from those who scored below 50 points on the self-awareness scale. The cognitive-behavioral program was implemented with this main sample. The results revealed the effectiveness of the program, showing a statistically significant positive impact on enhancing self-awareness among the students. This demonstrates the ability of cognitive-behavioral interventions to deal with irrational thoughts, uncontrolled emotions, and incorrect behaviors.
