Abstract

Abstract
The research focuses on the lack of interest in basic basketball skills across all age groups, despite the large number of age-group coaches training in specialized schools and sports clubs. Therefore, the researchers decided to study this problem through a qualitative analysis of the reality of basketball to determine the importance of basic skills training for all age groups, which is considered the most important skill builder for a player. Accordingly, the research aimed to identify the basic foundation for basketball players and to determine the percentages of basic skills used in training for all age groups.  The research procedures were conducted according to the descriptive approach, and the research population in this study was the coaches classified in the Iraqi Basketball Federation and its working members. A "stratified random sample" was used, and the research sample consisted of three categories: (junior coaches, numbering 18, youth coaches, numbering 16, and advanced coaches, numbering 10), in addition to 6 members working in the Iraqi Basketball Federation. Thus, the total number of the research sample was 50 people who were relied upon to answer the questionnaire questions.  The researchers used a questionnaire they developed, designed in its final form in accordance with the research objectives. It contains nine questions about the numerical base, basic skills, and training modules, all of which contribute to achieving the best possible performance for the Iraqi basketball team. The questionnaire was directed to the research sample, noting that the total number of responses in the questionnaire was (19) answers, which were expressed as a numerical value determined by the research target (the research sample) based on the type of question and its objective.
The results were then presented and discussed according to the numerical values of the research sample's responses to each question, and conclusions and recommendations were reached, including:

There is no junior category within the age group base, which is an important category that contributes to expanding the numerical base of Iraqi basketball.
There is a shortage of players within the numerical base for all three age groups, and this is due to the quality of selection for our national elections..
