Abstract

This research aims to identify effect of functional strength training on improving the trunk girdle strength of junior javelin throwers. The experimental approach was used for two groups, one experimental and the other control, using two measurements (pre-post) for each of them as it suits the nature of this research.

The research was applied to a sample of advanced-level female javelin throwers aged 16-18years. The sample numbered (16 female juniors) and they were divided into two groups, one experimental and numbering (6 female juniors), the other a control group and numbering (6 female juniors), and (3 junior females), a total exploratory sample (19female juniors).

The program was implemented using functional strength training for a period of (8) weeks, with (3) weekly training units, with a total of (24) training units, and the training unit time was set at (90 seconds).

The important results of the research that the proposed exercises contributed to strengthening the torso belt (softness of the arms, strength of the legs, torso flexibility, back strength, torso balance) with an improvement rate ranging between (11.67%- 23.36%) and also contributed to improving the digital level with an improvement rate of (10.59 %), and the most important recommendations were to conduct similar studies for the purpose of knowing the effectiveness of using functional strength training on different samples and other activities, paying attention to directing the results of the study to javelin throwing coaches and making functional strength training an essential part of the physical preparation of female javelin throwers.
