Abstract

The study aims to design a proposed cognitive test to evaluate the cognitive aspects of the Teaching Methods in Physical Education course for second-year students at the College of Physical Education for Women, Helwan University. The researcher employed a descriptive survey method, selected due to its suitability for the nature and objectives of the study. The research population consisted of 663 students, from which a sample of 40 students was systematically selected through random sampling, representing 6.03% of the total population. The researcher developed a comprehensive test to measure cognitive achievement, adhering to the established scientific methodology and structured design steps for constructing cognitive assessments, while considering recognized educational and scientific principles. The statistical analysis demonstrated notably high levels of reliability and validity coefficients, confirming its efficacy as a dependable measurement instrument. Based on these findings, the study recommends implementing this test as a primary tool for evaluating students' performance, given its potential to enhance the effectiveness of academic assessment. Additionally, the study emphasizes the pivotal role of cognitive evaluation in improving educational quality in physical education teaching methods, highlighting its significance in curriculum development and modernization in alignment with contemporary academic standards. The results underscore the importance of continuous development in cognitive assessment tools to ensure achievement of intended educational outcomes.
