Abstract

National Olympic Committees play a major role in managing sports in their countries. They are responsible for spreading the Olympic ideology and values, supervising the sports movement and working to develop it. Based on this role, Olympic committees need continuous and regular communication and media efforts to fulfill their mission and achieve their goals. They also find themselves in constant need to communicate with the media and public opinion, especially when the country's teams and athletes participate in international sporting events. From this standpoint, the research is based on studying and analyzing the communication and media activity of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, especially that which accompanied the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and how the Olympic Committee dealt with Egyptian public opinion in this regard. The results of the content analysis and the opinions of the sample individuals representing public opinion showed the limited efforts made by the Olympic Committee in communicating with society and public opinion, the lack of organized and planned efforts to develop the mental image of the committee, and that its communication efforts to address the issues that accompanied Egypt's participation in the Games are very limited efforts and were not within a planned framework.
